Thank you for your interest in joining the Sacramento Amateur Radio Communications Reserves.
There are three nationally recognized Amateur Radio emergency organizations: RACES (Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services), which is authorized by the Federal Government to support local disaster communications; ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Services), which was developed by the national Amateur Radio organization, ARRL; and ACS (Auxiliary Communications Service) locally, officially sponsored volunteers. Basically, the three organizations support disaster response programs in different ways. Currently, the SARCR is a combined RACES-ARES-ACS program.
