What is the SARCR? SARCR (Sacramento Amateur Radio Communications Reserves) is a combination of ARES, ACS, and RACES. Under one organization each group performs specific functions depending on the emergency activation or event.
What is ARES ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service) is an emergency service governed by the amateur radio organization known as ARRL (American Radio Relay League) and is available to any government or non government organization through local ECs (Emergency Coordinators).
What is RACES? RACES (Radio Amateur Communications Emergency Services) Is authorized under FCC Rules and Regulations and provides emergency services primarily to government agencies. The sponsoring agency, in our case the Sacramento City Fire Department, runs the program providing training, resources, coordination, and official authority.
What is ACS? ACS (Auxiliary Communications Service) is a group of amateurs that work closely with Emergency Operations in City and County operational areas and can be called into service to help both government and non government organizations.
